The prizes:

1) A homemade Civil War quilt. Cathy Sorensen created the "Civil War Soldier's Comfort Quilt" for Fort Collins Reads from a book by Kathleen Tracy,

"Remembering Adelia." The cot-sized quilt is pieced from 100% cotton, Civil War reproduction prints in a nine-patch block pattern. The quilt back is a medium weight ticking fabric typical of that used for utilitarian quilts, or ones sent with a loved one to war.

Nancy Pennington quilted the piece with a "Baptist Fan" quilting pattern, typically used during this time frame.

2) An indepth look at the Civil War through a Time Life 28-book series. Bound in grey with blue letters, the books contain fascinating photographs. Donated to Fort Collins Reads by Susie and Dick Wilmer, owners of Old Firehouse Books.

3) A 14-set DVD collection featuring the History Chanfnel program, "Civil War: Rebellion to Reconstruction, Classroom Edition." Valued at $199.95.

4) Geraldine Brooks' six novels, autographed by the author. Brooks' works include, "March;" “People of the Book;” “Year of Wonders;” “Nine Parts of Desire: The Hidden World of Islamic Women;” and “Foreign Correspondence: A Pen Pal’s Journey From Down Under to All Over.” The copy of her latest novel, “Caleb’s Crossing,” is an advanced reader's copy. Total retail value $75. Donated by Old Firehouse Books.
