WHAT IS FORT COLLINS READS?
What if an entire city read the same book and discussed it? People from Seattle to Fort Collins to New York asked that question and launched community-wide reading programs to find answers.
Fort Collins Reads is a one-city, one-book program that began in 2002 as one of the first of its kind in Colorado. Nine books later, we’ve established a top-notch reputation among authors, publishers and readers. Our volunteer committee selects a book each spring and invites the author to speak the following autumn. In between those times, we encourage people to read the book and explore its main themes at various events.
The 2011 book is the Pulitzer Prize-winning “March” by Geraldine Brooks. She’ll speak Nov. 12 at The Hilton in Fort Collins. Tickets go on sale in September.
Fort Collins Reads provides a unique opportunity for residents to educate themselves, meet new people and share in a positive experience. Our goal is to strengthen the community through reading and through the civil discussion of challenging topics.
